In 1977, founder Jon Adams Jerde, FAIA, embarked on a journey to make places - not architectural objects - where people gather and experience a sense of community. He started his firm with retail, because, in his words, "that is where the people are." And there they are indeed. More than 750 million people visit Jerde-designed places each year.
